Barristers
The amount of cover a barrister must have varies with the lowest minimum level of cover per claim fixed at £500,000 (and the highest at £2,500,000). All barristers, and in particular barristers who are self-employed, are regulated by the Bar Standards Board and are subject to the Code of Conduct of the Bar of England and Wales. Under the Code of Conduct requires that self-employed barristers comply with the rules of the Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund. The amount of cover required is related to premium payable, which is calculated based on each barrister's areas of practice and their income from gross fees in the previous year.
